SNEAK PEAK! Holiday Mini Paisley Prints 3

Share

Hi Stampin' Friends!
Are you ready for another project using the Paisley Prints stamp set (a new stamp set that will be available in the upcoming Holiday Mini)?  This set is so versatile! I really had a lot of fun working with it for the Convention display boards.

To create this treat box, I used one of my favorite Big Shot dies, the Fancy Favor box and then dressed up the front of it using some of my favorite colors: Baja Breeze, Certainly Celery, and So Saffron.  The box itself is the new Cajun Craze.  I am just happy as a clam incorporating Baja Breeze into my projects again!!  I sure missed it, and am SO HAPPY about the Color Renovation!!

Stampin' Recipe:
Stamps: Paisley Prints, Fabulous Phrases
Ink: Cajun Craze, Early Espresso
Paper: Cajun Craze, Baja Breeze, Certainly Celery, Crumb Cake, Whisper White
Tools: Big Shot (of course!! haha), Scallop Circles #2 die, Circle Scissor Plus, Full Heart Punch
Embellishments: Designer Buttons, Linen Thread, Clips Assortment

Happy Stampin'!!

More Convention Photos!

I didn't have a chance to show you pictures from my last day at Convention before the blog hop, but I've been wanting to post those for you so you can see all the awesome display boards.  I ran out of memory, so I didn't get a bunch I really wanted *sad face* but I am very happy to have pics of all those boards I did get.

Here's a few of my faves from my last-day perusing:

And, if you'd like to see all of the pictures I took of the display boards on the last day, check out my online album HERE.

One of the best highlights of the last day, was Stampin' Up! surprised us with a special present...a whole kit from the upcoming Holiday Mini!!

The kit included a level 2 Hostess Set, Peaceful Season, Deck the Halls Designer Series Paper, Glass Glitter, and a Cherry Cobbler ink pad.  I was sooooooo excited!!  I am working on a couple of projects using the fun new stuff, so I'll definitely have to post those soon.

I think Stampin' Up! has just outdone themselves again with all of the AMAZING new products coming up in the 2010 Holiday Mini.  If you don't have one, you are definitely going to want one!!  If you don't already have a Stampin' Up! demonstrator, feel free to email me and get a FREE copy of your own.  I will put yours in the mail first thing on September 1st!

Artisan Award Blog Hop: Day 10

Share
Today is the last day of the blog hop, and I sure hope you have had fun hopping with us!  This is the last of our projects, which is our second 3-D item.

My project is a princess crown and wand birthday set.  I saw a crown and wand princess set at a toy store, and I thought it would be perfect to step up and see what I could create with that idea.  This project took a lot of playing around with!  I wasn't quite sure how to make the accordian folds, but found an awesome tutorial on splitcoast by Beate Johns HERE.

Artisan Award Blog Hop: Day 9

Share
Hi Stampin' Friends!!  Today is the first of our 3-D projects.  I can't believe this, but after I had boxed up and shipped off my projects, I realized I had forgotten to take a picture of this one!!  Oh, my heart just sank because at that time, of course I had no idea if I would ever see this again.  This quilted wall-hanging definitely took up the bulk of my time (haha don't look TOO closely because this was really truly my first "big" sewing project!).  Now, every time I look at it, I see all kinds of things I wish I could push the "redo" button for, but oh well!  I guess it was good enough. :)
Heather Van Duker

Sarah Sagert
For Sarah's memory board, she has several up close and detailed pictures, and I've uploaded them to my album HERE for you to take a closer look.  Enjoy!

Artisan Award Blog Hop: Day 8

Share
Hi again!  Today is the last of our scrapbook pages. Mine is a wedding page using the Baroque Motifs stamp set.  I just can't believe how much I love that stamp set, even though I think it was my first or second stamp set I ever purchased about 4 years ago.  It is just a classic, I guess!

Heather Van Duker

Sarah Sagert
I really like how Sarah created so much texture using circles in the background layered with buttons, and the circle motif repeated again in the DSP.  So clever!  And, if that is Sarah's daughter, wow girl, you have adorable babies!  :)

Tomorrow, we will be showing the first of our (2) 3-D items.  And now,  it's time to hop over to Elizabeth Price's Blog, Seeing Ink Spots. Before you go, don't forget to say hi and leave me a comment, I love to hear from you.  :)

Artisan Award Blog Hop: Day 7

Share
Welcome to Day 7 of our Artisan Award Blog Hop!  I hope you enjoyed seeing our 1st scrapbook pages yesterday.  The first page I have posted today is Sarah Sagert's.  I absolutely adore the Nursery Necessities stamp set and isn't this a fabulous page to showcase just how cute that set is??
Sarah Sagert
For my scrapbook page, I had an idea for a baby girl page, but being childless, I wasn't quite sure how to get pictures!  I asked my good friend Shanna Jensen if I could plop down and sort through her photos because, conveniently, she has both a little girl and a photographer husband.  :)  Isn't her little one a doll??

Artisan Award Blog Hop: Day 6

Share
Welcome back!!  I hope you had a fabulous weekend.  This week, we're going to be posting our 3 scrapbook pages, and Thursday and Friday, we'll be posting our 3-D projects.  I hope you enjoy the second week of the hop.

My first scrapbook page is my "Divas & Cupcakes" page.  My book club finds all kinds of fun little places to meet each month, and one locale was called "Divas & Cupcakes".  As you can probably already guess, they had FANTASTIC cupcakes!  Yum!

I decided to do a page all about the sweetest joint around, and remembered my cupcake card last fall where I figured out how to do what I call "ribbon frosting" (which was inspired by a ruffled pillow on a sewing blog), and I was also inspired by the layout and colors of Brooke Stockman's Convention 2009 swap card shown HERE.

Heather Van Duker

And, below, is Sarah's first scrapbook page.  I love how she did the scallop border all around the page. How cute!!

Artisan Award Blog Hop: Day 5

Today's card is my only re-make of an earlier card.  I stepped it up by adding rhinestones, changing my color scheme, and using a cool little trick to "glitter-fy" the sentiment.  I'm not sure if you can see the sparkle on the sentiment, but my upline taught me a cool technique a long time ago to be able to emboss over the ink color of your choice.  Ink your stamp in versamark first, then your ink color, and stamp.  The add your embossing powder and heat set.  I used iridescent ice for this card.  Isn't that a nifty trick to know??

Heather Van Duker

Wow, I am just loving Sarah's card!  So many cute little details and what a great layout!

Artisan Award Blog Hop: Day 4

Share
Wow, here we are at Day 4, already!  It seems like this week is just flying by.  Have you enjoyed what you've seen?

This accordian card was inspired by my little nephew, Owen, who was born in October (he's a fraternal twin!).  It is a birth announcement with a pull-out info card.  Of course, for the contest, I could only make one card, so I chose the nephew with the shorter name.  I hope Caleb doesn't mind too much. :)

Artisan Award Blog Hop: Day 3

Share
Hi again!!  I hope you have been enjoying the hop, I sure have!  I didn't really get to see all of the projects at convention with such a nice detailed view one-by-one, so I am really enjoying being able to see all of these projects!

Here is the next of mine and Sarah's cards.  I used the Tulipe die and used the negative as a stencil on this one.  Even though this isn't one of my fanciest cards, for some reason it is one of my favorites.  Maybe it's because it is the first card I finished!!  Whew!  "One down, a ka-billion more to go..."  :)  I started working on the butterfly card I showed you yesterday very first, but set it aside for quite a while, and then I made this card which came together super fast.

Artisan Award Blog Hop: Day 2

Share
Welcome to Day 2 of the Artisan Award Blog Hop!  I hope you had fun checking out all of the projects on Day 1 and left the Artisans lots of comments of support.  :)  I mentioned this in one of my previous posts, but one of the things we talked about at our dinner with Shelli and Brent is how nerve-wracking and kinda scary it is to have your work out in front of  everyone.  It feels so personal, one artisan even mentioned how  it feels like having their underwear hanging out for everyone to see.  I thought that was a funny and pretty true way to put it.

2010-11 Artisan Award-Winning Projects Blog Hop

Share
Welcome to our Artisan Award-winning Projects Blog Hop!  We are so excited to share our projects with you!  It still makes me giddy every time I hear someone mention the Artisan Award, it is just unbelievable that I actually won!  Thank you so much for encouraging me to enter and supporting me. It means the world to me.

Each weekday (M-F) for the next two weeks, we will be posting a new project, starting with our cards, then our scrapbook pages, and finally our 3-D items.  I hope you have fun checking out our projects (I know I can't wait to see my fellow winners projects, too!)

My first card is loaded with accessories.  I fell in love with so many of the accessories in the 2009-2010 Idea Book & Catalog, and when I decided to enter the Artisan Award contest, it gave me the perfect excuse to buy all of them. And then, I just couldn't decide what to use, so I had to use them all, of course!  :) I will even admit I caught myself humming Julie Andrews' "A few of my favorite things" when I was working on this card. Haha, I know, someone call the nerd patrol!

Stamps: Great Friend, Sprinkles (retired)

Paper: Basic Gray, Bordering Blue (retired), Rose Red, Old Olive, Whisper White, So Saffron

Ink: Basic Gray, Basic Gray Marker, Old Olive Marker, Rose Red Marker, Versamark

Tools: 1-3/4” Circle Punch, Big Shot, Hearts and Brackets Die

Embellishments: Double Stitched Rose Red Ribbon (retired), Clips Assortment, Flower Brads, Basic Gray Corduroy Buttons (retired), Linen Thread, Elementary Ribbon Originals (retired)

Sarah Sagert, a fellow Artisan Award Winner, does not have a blog but wanted to share her projects with you, as well, and asked me to post her projects along with mine.   Thanks, Sarah, for sharing your work with us! Here is her first card for the hop:

I just love all of the texture and detail in her card.  Check out the grass; can you believe all the little snipping she did?

Now, get ready to hop over to Elizabeth Price's Blog, Seeing Ink Spots. I will be there right behind you, cuz I can't wait to see what she has created!  Before you go, let me know what you think of my project and leave me a comment, I love to hear from you.  :)
