PLAY like you mean it

Share

Today's project is a double-page scrapbook layout featuring "Bugs & Kisses" stamp set.  The Bugs & Kisses stamp set is an "oldie but goodie".  Every year when the new catalog is released, I wait to see if this set is going to make it another round.  It sure did!  I love this set, and I'm so happy we get to keep it in the catalog for at least one more year.  Take a look and see what I mean!  Isn't it cute??

I created the "Play" title using the Simple Letters Alphabet Dies (115960) and Mr. Big (113439).  I know, I know, I never make anything without the Big Shot anymore!  I can't help it if the Big Shot is so fabulous!  That is one purchase I will never regret.   I used the Crimper Tool (101618) to add some whimsical, playful texture to the letters.

I agaub used the Big Shot and Top Note die for the decorative accent here on the frame shown here. I love to tuck a Top Note under the corner of journaling or photo frames for a little extra "something."

Here's a fun little trick to try using the Circle Circus stamp set: create your own DSP (Designer Series Paper) by stamping a pattern on white cardstock.  That's how I made the "L" in "Play" and this photo corner really POP! Helpful Hint: Photo corners are a snap with the Photo corners punch (119878)

Day 4: "Saying Sayonara"

Share

REMINDER: don't forget about our 2010 Artisan Award Winners' Blog Hop! CLICK HERE to read more about it.

Today's kid-friendly card is sooooo easy-peasy. And, despite it's simplicity, I just love it!

The bugs & kisses stamp set is a MUST-HAVE for kid cards. (plus, it gives me an excuse to give kisses to my nephews!! "Bugs & kisses, bugs & kisses!!"). One of my favorite things about this card is how fast and easy it is to punch out the image with the 1-3/4" circle punch; just imagine how much longer it would take to try and cut out around a grasshopper! :)

Retiring Products used in this card:
Close to Cocoa cardstock ( ALREADY SOLD OUT! *sad face* )
Vintage Brads (109109)

Other Stampin' Supplies:
Bugs & Kisses Stamp Set (116580)

Animal Stories Scrapbook Pages

Share

Today's layout for these pages were inspired by Splitcoast Scrapbook Sketch challenge #30, and I created them for my monthly scrapbook club. On club night, we made these pages and the "Summer" pages shown in this post. Our friendly and enthusiastic group of scrapbook stampers is looking for 2 new members! Contact me (I'm friendly!) for more information.

  • Stampin' Up!'s high-quality metal styled vanilla Hodgepodge Hardware contains etched designs on brads and accents that coordinates with several punches. Helpful Hint: The frame I used here coordinates with the 1" square punch, and the frame I used in this post coordinates with the Designer label punch

  • Making perfect circles has never been simpler! The circle scissor plus (112530) cuts circles with ease. Helpful Hint: Works best with the glass mat (112531)

  • Clear buttons (105447) are easy to dress up by attaching to cut-out shapes, ribbon, rub-ons, and more! Helpful Hint: I used the scallop square punch (112081) and 1" circle punch (109046) to create cut-outs to coordinate with my clear button.
  • The Photo Corners punch (109042) and dimensionals (104430) make it quick and easy to add a little extra umph! to your photo frames

Happy Birthday, Human

Share
The new "Lots of Bots" stamp set gets us back to the "nuts and bolts" of stamping. I used some classic techniques to put together an easy "bot-day" card. Here are a few tips:
  • To create a multi-colored image, use markers to color directly on your rubber stamp before stamping on cardstock
  • Aquapainters are great for using your ink pad to watercolor an image, as I did on the balloon
  • You can create perfectly centered greetings every time by stamping your greeting on cardstock first, and then using the Word Window punch to cut it out
  • I used the "To the Nines" specialty DSP, which is a textured, cover-weight cardstock that adds a little extra depth and class to any card
  • In a pinch, a quick and easy-to-make card keeps me sane. This card definitely qualifies for "Sanity Saver" status, cards that come together in 15 minutes or less

Tall Tales Birthday

Share
Today's card celebrates one of my favorite things...birthdays! But not just any birthday, kids' birthdays! They are so happy and excited, impatiently waiting for their big day. (Kind of like me waiting for my Stampin' Up! Order to arrive at my doorstep! :)

I played along with two challenges today: the splitcoast card sketch challenge #237, and the splitcoast ways to use it challenge #227. I really enjoy online challenges because they are great ways to get ideas and have some fun making cards with all your online pals.

Congrats!!

I've been a little crazy with color lately! Maybe it's all this SNOW!! I can't believe it, Mother Nature is taunting me with sunny days and then she dumps down a bunch more snow. I just can't wait for Summer time and maybe I'm trying to coax things along a little. :) I saw this picture in my Architechural Digest magazine, and boy, I was definitely in the mood to be laying under one of those lovely yoyo yellow umbrellas and taking a dip in that brilliant blue pool. Even if I can't get out the bikini just yet, at least I got some great color inspiration!

I am really loving this whole Mojo Monday thing. The inspiration for this layout came from this week's Mojo Monday sketch, shown here. I think this card could definitely work as a Guy Gallery card and as a Kid's Korner card. What do you think? It seems like almost every time I make a Guy card, I think, "This could be a kid's card, too!" Funny how those two do seem to go together quite a lot! hehe. :) Stamps: Say it with Scallops (111678), Congrats (113770, FREE with $50 order before March 31st!) Ink: Really Rust (102549), Brilliant Blue (100691) Paper: Really Rust(100661), Yoyo Yellow(102824), Brilliant Blue (100721), Whisper White(100730, TIP: order the Neutrals package-108588-and get 6 sheets of all the neutrals including whisper white for only 45 cents more!), Old Olive (100702) Tools: Scallop Edge Punch (112091), 1-1/4" Square Punch (104400), Star Punch (109045) Embellishments: 1/4" Grosgrain Old Olive Ribbon (111368) Other Project Must-haves: Mini-glue dots (103683), Stamp-a-ma-jig (101049), SNAIL (104332)

Make a Wish

Share
Here is a card I put together for a make-and-take at an in-home boutique. I love this card! The bright colors, glitter, and texture make it a fun one. It works for guys and kids (funny how those two so often go together)! I used my two-way glue pen along the base of the "icing" and then sprinkled chunky essentials glitter. To color the sprinkles and candle, I pressed my ink pad into its lid and then daubed my blender pen in the ink to get that nice watercolor look. For that cool "accordian" strip with the Tangerine Tango cardstock, I alternated scoring big-little-big-little sections on the tangerine tango cardstock, and then folded the cardstock over on itself. The greeting is first stamped with versamark, and then heat embossed with white embossing powder. Stamp Sets: Crazy for Cupcakes (11618), Little Bits Wheel (109691), A Little Birthday Cheer (retired) Paper: Pacific Point (111350), Tangerine Tango (111349), Baja Breeze (111352) Ink: Baja Breeze (111833), Basic Black (101179), Versamark (102283) Tools: White embossing powder(109132), Blender pens (102845), Summer Sun marker (100077), Paper Cutter with scoring blade (104152), Powder Pal (102197), Heat Tool (100005) Embellishments: Two-way glue pen (100425), Chunky Essentials glitter (108797), Twill Tape(105245), Stampin' Dimensionals (104430) Click Here to Order Online!
