Christmas Greetings with Christmas Collage

 

I had so much fun working on this card!  It is for my upcoming Christmas cards class on Saturday.  I busted out all my favorites for this card: crochet trim, the damask impressions folder, glass glitter, champagne shimmer paint, XL designer buttons!!  Haha, way too much fun!  I used the Mojo Monday Sketch as my layout inspiration:

I haven't had a chance to play along for such a long time!!

Peaceful Season Christmas Card

I noticed an awful lot of my posts lately have started out with something like, "sorry this is so short, but..." and sadly this is going to have to be another one of those! I guess it's just that time of year, huh?? Are you crazy busy too??

Today's card features the lovely "Peaceful Season" level 2 hostess set. Isn't it gorgeous!!

I just fell in love with it the second I saw it. Actually, this card features a lot of things I am in love with...basic pearls, glass glitter, satin ribbon!! and let's not forget Deck the Halls DSP! Hope you like the card!!

Sparkly & Bright Christmas

Good Monday Morning, Stampers!! Yes, that's right, it's Monday! That means it's time for another Late Night Stampers Weekly Challenge! This week's challenge is to create a Christmas project using non-traditional Christmas colors. You can see in my card that I used a fun and funky color combo, none of which are our traditional red, green, or winter blue!

I used one of my favorite Christmas stamp sets in the catalog right now: Sparkly & Bright (115346). It is a little retro and lots of FUN!

Another favorite featured on this card: the iridescent ice (101930) heat embossed glitter. I absolutely love it. A little versamark, a little Iridescent ice, a blast with the heat tool, and VOILA! instant glitter-ness!

Oh Christmas tree, oh Christmas tree!

Here's a card I created for the Late Night Stampers Inspiration Challenge this week. The challenge is to be inspired by this photo and see what you come up with! I was inspired by all those trees, and immediately thought of the Level 1 Hostess set "Patterned Pines".

Want to know how to create a sponged silhouette like the one I did with the pines? I simply embossed with Clear Embossing powder, and then used my sponge daubers and sponged Old olive ink all in and around my clear embossed images. The ink comes right off the embossed areas, and just leaves a cool silhouette of the image behind. Give it a try, it's a fun technique!

Jingle All the Way

Are you dying to start decorating for Christmas like I am?? I have been bugging my husband since the first of November...
"What do you say we start putting up Christmas decorations?" (hopeful smile) "mmm." (nose wrinkle)

A few days later...
"So, those Christmas decorations sure seem like they would love to get out of those boxes!" (another hopeful smile)
"mmm." (grumble)

"Now??" (hopeful smile #3)

I think it's working...? Well, maybe not yet, but soon! So, in the meantime, here is a project I was working on last night. My poor Christmas cards class this morning! Instead of prepping supplies for class this morning, I ended up working on this! I was just a little behind schedule... :)

Christmas Dasher

I have been working on Christmas cards all this month, and I'm super excited for my Christmas cards class coming up this Saturday! Today's card is one of the cards for my Christmas cards class, and features the "Dasher" single stamp (in the Under $10 section of the Idea Book and catalog!). I was inspired by this lovely Top Note Box on Split Coast Stampers.

When I design Christmas cards, I always have simplicity in mind (I send out over 300 cards each year (!) so I have to keep them simple to keep myself sane). This card has a fancy look, but it is all due to the magic of Mr Big (The Big Shot!). I used my Big Shot, Top Note Die, and Scallop Circle #2 Die to create those curves.

Merry Christmas Banner

Today's project is a Christmas Banner I made for our Late Night Stampers Challenge last week. It is all glitz and sparkles, perfect for Christmas! The Mistletoe Ribbon Originals (116792) is just to die for! I made the bow shown above using the Old Olive Taffeta Ribbon which comes as part of the duo. If you love this ribbon set as much as I do, you will want to stock up because it is only available until January 4th in the Holiday Mini Catalog (click to download your electronic copy or email me to receive your FREE paper copy)! To make those letters dazzle, I used Crystal Effects (101055) and Chunky Essentials (108797) Glitter. Glamorous! Speaking of letters, did you notice almost all of the banner is made from Big Shot dies? I used the Scallop Square (115950), Scallop Circle #2 (113469), and the Serif Essentials Alphabet (113454) to create the banner, and then dressed it up with some glitter and ribbon. The Big Shot makes "big" projects so easy! To hang up this banner, I looped linen thread (104199) around 1" Real Red double-stitched Grosgrain Ribbon (115607).

Serene Snowflakes Christmas Card

Today's card is another (yes, and I have tons more!) of the fantastic projects from my Creative Stamper's St. George Retreat.

Isn't it fantastic to see another use for the Night & Day DSP (116768) even though at first glance it seems mostly for Halloween? After seeing this card, I'm sure you'll agree it's not just for Tricks and Treats!

Several items used to create this card are from the holiday Mini Catalog. One of my favorite things is the NEW shimmer paints (116806). They add some subtle sparkle and bling to my projects, and I just can't get enough! Candy Creations!

The late night stampers are at it again, and bringing us another fun weekly challenge! This week, put your creative juices to work (and your munching juices!) while being inspired by your favorite candy. My favorite candy of all-time is Hot Tamales. Yum! So, I went to work creating a card with Real Red, Basic Black, Whisper White and a touch of Summer Sun.

Today was my "Season's Greetings for Seniors" Charitable event, and I am so excited about all the Christmas cards we'll be able to donate! The Senior Care centers were so excited when I called and asked if I could donate personalized, handmade Christmas cards. Here are the cards we made for the event:

Have you seen the NEW ornament punch (116794) in the Holiday Mini?? It coordinates perfectly with the Delightful Decorations stamp set (116517) I used in the card above and below. LOVE it!

This stamp set is one of my favorites in the entire Idea Book & Catalog. It is a Level 2 Christmas Punch Hostess set (115366-FREE! with a qualifying order or workshop of $300+). The Sentiment I used in this card coordinates with the wide oval punch (112082), and the snowflakes are a snap to cut out with the Boho Blossoms punch (110711).

All of the cards today are easy to make in less than 10 minutes, which means they qualify for Sanity Saver status. Keeping your Christmas cards clean and simple is the key to keeping your Christmas card-making Merry and Bright!

Volunteers Needed for Charitable Event in Honor of World Card Making Day

Volunteers are needed for a charitable event held on World card-making day, Saturday, October 3rd, from 10am-12pm. If you are in the Salt Lake City Area, please come and make Christmas cards for seniors with Alzheimer’s or dementia.

When I was in high school, I volunteered at a local senior care center. Some of the seniors didn’t really have much family or friends left, and the love and joy Christmas brought to me didn’t really seem to spread as much there.

In honor of world card-making day, I would like to donate as much supplies and instruction time as YOU are willing to come and make Christmas cards! It would be wonderful for these seniors who may have gone back in time, in their minds, and who may not even recognize when it is Christmas time, to have a really special handmade Christmas card this year to remind them of all the joy, love and special people they have known and loved throughout their lives.

A little more Christmas in July

When I think of Christmas, thinking of treats isn't far behind! A Peek-a-Boo box filled with goodies makes a lovely gift for co-workers, neighbors and acquaintances.

• 3-D items (especially treat boxes!) need a little extra help to hold up to the extra wear and tear they encounter. Sticky strip is just the adhesive for the job! Once you adhere with sticky strip, it is going to stay like that forever.
• To get a multi-color stamped image, use markers to color directly on the stamp before stamping on your paper. Helpful Hint: For this treat box, I inked the entire image in Chocolate Chip and then used a blender pen to take up the ink from "Merry" and the star. Next, I colored with my Real Red marker directly on the stamp.
• Window sheets are a fun way to showcase what's inside. Just adhere using a mini-glue dot in each corner.
• All of Stampin' Up!'s Designer Series Papers (DSP) are two-sided, so it is perfect for a fun surprise on the inside of a treat box like this. I used the "Merry Moments" DSP shown here (you can click on the image to get a close-up view):
