Volunteers Needed for Charitable Event in Honor of World Card Making Day

Share

Volunteers are needed for a charitable event held on World card-making day, Saturday, October 3rd, from 10am-12pm. If you are in the Salt Lake City Area, please come and make Christmas cards for seniors with Alzheimer’s or dementia.

When I was in high school, I volunteered at a local senior care center. Some of the seniors didn’t really have much family or friends left, and the love and joy Christmas brought to me didn’t really seem to spread as much there.

In honor of world card-making day, I would like to donate as much supplies and instruction time as YOU are willing to come and make Christmas cards! It would be wonderful for these seniors who may have gone back in time, in their minds, and who may not even recognize when it is Christmas time, to have a really special handmade Christmas card this year to remind them of all the joy, love and special people they have known and loved throughout their lives.

Please RSVP to Heather by Thursday, October 1st. Email: Stamptastic.heather@gmail.com

Happy Stampin!

Thankful Mojo

Share

It's Mojo time!  For those of you who have been following my blog for a while, you know that Mojo Monday is one of my favorite online sketch challenges.  Here is this week's sketch:

  • To create the fanciful frame I used to dress up my sentiment, just take another look at the Top Note Die...see it?  I simply ran it through my big shot, and then trimmed off the top and bottom with my paper trimmer.
  • The stamped background image comes from the Fresh Cuts set.  I "rocked and rolled" it by first inking my stamp in Crushed Curry ink, and then rolling the edges of the stamp in the Dusty Durange ink pad.  I stamped first on scrap paper and then onto my paper so that it has a lighter color. Helpful Hint: Stamping on scrap paper before you stamp on your paper (without re-inking the stamp) to get a lighter image is called "Stamping Off"
  • Are you loving rouched ribbon as much as I am??  I cut a strip of 1/2" Soft Suede card stock, got it nice and sticky with sticky strip, and then adhered my gathered ribbon to the card stock bit by bit.
  • Those extra large scallops are extra easy to make when you use your 1-3/8" circle punch!  I just punched out circles and adhered to my paper next to each other to create the same look as a large scallop punch.

Ready to have some Stampin' fun?? All of the supplies I used are listed below. Just CLICK HERE to go to my Stampin' Up! website to order any of the supplies you need. Once you get there, click on "Shop Now" in the upper right hand corner, and use the item numbers listed below.

Need a hard copy of the catalog to call your own?? Email me and get the 2009-2010 Idea Book & Catalog for just $9.95.

Ruffles and Ribbons, Oh my!

Share

This sweet-i-licious card may look like it causes cavities, but the only effect it will have is smiles on your recipient's face!

I found this adorable pillow, and knew I needed some rufflies, too!

To create this runched-ribbon effect:

  1. Cover a circle of cardstock in SNAIL. Helpful Hint: The Circle Scissor Plus (112530) cuts circles with ease! Best when used with the Glass Mat (112531).
  2. "Mush" gathered ribbon into the glue, start at the base of the cupcake and working your way to the other side. When you finish one row, simply turn the corner and work your way back across the next row until you've covered your cupcake.
  3. Tuck the ends of the ribbon around to the back side of the cupcake and adhere to the back.
>
To create the cupcake base:
  1. Use the scallop edge punch to scallop one side of chocolate chip card stock
  2. Use your paper trimmer and scoring blade to score lines from the base to the "notches" between each scallop. To enhance the score lines, sponge on chocolate chip ink.
  3. Use your paper trimmer to cut the chocolate chip cardstock at an angle.
Et Voila! A delicious birthday card your friends and family would love to receive!

All of the supplies I used for this card are listed below. Just CLICK HERE to go to my Stampin' Up! website to order any of the supplies you need. Once you get there, click on "Shop Now" in the upper right hand corner, and use the item numbers listed below.

Animal Stories Scrapbook Pages

Share

Today's layout for these pages were inspired by Splitcoast Scrapbook Sketch challenge #30, and I created them for my monthly scrapbook club. On club night, we made these pages and the "Summer" pages shown in this post. Our friendly and enthusiastic group of scrapbook stampers is looking for 2 new members! Contact me (I'm friendly!) for more information.

  • Stampin' Up!'s high-quality metal styled vanilla Hodgepodge Hardware contains etched designs on brads and accents that coordinates with several punches. Helpful Hint: The frame I used here coordinates with the 1" square punch, and the frame I used in this post coordinates with the Designer label punch

  • Making perfect circles has never been simpler! The circle scissor plus (112530) cuts circles with ease. Helpful Hint: Works best with the glass mat (112531)

  • Clear buttons (105447) are easy to dress up by attaching to cut-out shapes, ribbon, rub-ons, and more! Helpful Hint: I used the scallop square punch (112081) and 1" circle punch (109046) to create cut-outs to coordinate with my clear button.
  • The Photo Corners punch (109042) and dimensionals (104430) make it quick and easy to add a little extra umph! to your photo frames

Summer Scrapbook Pages

Share

I know it's all back to school time, fall, leaves, blah blah blah... ~smile~ BUT I just want to hold on to our last shred of summertime!! That's what inspired the butterflies and title on these pages. Otherwise, these colors are actually great for autumn. You could just switch out the butterflies for leaves, and the title to "Autumn". Haha, I just can't let go of summer, yet!

  • With the Big Shot, decorative cutting is so EASY! I used mine for the butterflies and Top Note frame
  • Hodgepodge hardware has a way of dressing up the look of any project you're working on. I used the Vanilla Designer Label frame on these pages.
  • I still can't get enough of that adorable polka-dot In Color ribbon! I added just a touch of ribbon, but it makes such a difference.

All of the supplies I used for these pages are listed below. Just CLICK HERE to go to my Stampin' Up! website to order any of the supplies you need. Once you get there, click on "Shop Now" in the upper right hand corner, and use the item numbers listed below.

In memory of those lost in the World Trade center attack, the tears that have been shed by loved ones, and the compassion and selfless acts by those who volunteered in the aftermath. We will never forget.

"Happiness" comes in Vinyl!

Share

I know it has been a couple of days since I've posted, but I've been busy working on a more time intensive project...I hope you like it!

Once again, I've used the darling Cottage Wall Designer Series Paper (115671) to make a cute wall hanging. I chose the decor elements "Happiness" vinyl (size small in chocolate, 114120), so that every time I walk past this wall hanging, I'll think of something that makes me happy... slurpees, my hubby, warm fuzzy socks in the winter...mmm, I feel happier already! What are some things that bring you happiness?

The vinyl I chose, "Happiness", is just one of many in the Definitely Decorative Decor Elements catalog. Many vinyls are available in several colors, and there are tons of very affordable options. For example, "Happiness" is available in black, chocolate, and white, and even better, is very reasonably priced at just $4.95!!

Want to see more?? For a limited time, you can get your FREE hard copy of the Definitely Decorative catalog when you email me your name and address. You can also download an electronic copy of the Definitely Decorative catalog HERE.

Want to give this project a try? I am having a class (date TBD) so email me if you are in the Salt Lake Area and are interested in finding out more. It is a snap to customize the colors to match your own decor and style.

If you'd like to give it a try on your own, I've listed the supplies I used below. Just CLICK HERE to go to my Stampin' Up! website to order any of the supplies you need. Once you get there, click on "Shop Now" in the upper right hand corner, and use the item numbers to place your order. Remember, you can email or call me anytime with questions, I'm friendly! My contact information is listed on my Stampin' Up! website.

Ghouls and Goblins

Share

The Sweet Centers stamp set is SAH-Weet! ~smile~ I'm totally diggin' it! It is super fun to use with the new Sweet Treat cups (like I did in this yummy sample) or by itself like in today's card. I love how versatile it is, it can be used for many occasions such as Halloween, Valentine's Day, Kid's Birthdays, and for All-Occasions cards. I think this stamp set is going to be on my "I can never give you up!" stamp set list because it will be one of those sets that just comes in handy all the time. ~smile~

Did you know the large center of the Sweet Centers stamped images fits perfectly with your 1-3/4" circle punch? For today's card, I punched out the middle of the stamped image, and then I stamped again on whisper white, and punched out the greeting with the 1-1/4" circle punch. Helpful Hint: Multi-colored stamped images are a snap when you use Stampin' Write markers to color directly on your rubber stamp before stamping your image on card stock.

I hope you are nice and cozy with your copy of the Holiday Mini Catalog, but if not, we can fix that in a jiffy! Just email me, and I will put your FREE copy in the mail today! Or, you can download the Mini Catalog HERE.
