PLAY like you mean it

Share

Today's project is a double-page scrapbook layout featuring "Bugs & Kisses" stamp set.  The Bugs & Kisses stamp set is an "oldie but goodie".  Every year when the new catalog is released, I wait to see if this set is going to make it another round.  It sure did!  I love this set, and I'm so happy we get to keep it in the catalog for at least one more year.  Take a look and see what I mean!  Isn't it cute??

I created the "Play" title using the Simple Letters Alphabet Dies (115960) and Mr. Big (113439).  I know, I know, I never make anything without the Big Shot anymore!  I can't help it if the Big Shot is so fabulous!  That is one purchase I will never regret.   I used the Crimper Tool (101618) to add some whimsical, playful texture to the letters.

I agaub used the Big Shot and Top Note die for the decorative accent here on the frame shown here. I love to tuck a Top Note under the corner of journaling or photo frames for a little extra "something."

Here's a fun little trick to try using the Circle Circus stamp set: create your own DSP (Designer Series Paper) by stamping a pattern on white cardstock.  That's how I made the "L" in "Play" and this photo corner really POP! Helpful Hint: Photo corners are a snap with the Photo corners punch (119878)

Animal Stories Scrapbook Pages

Share

Today's layout for these pages were inspired by Splitcoast Scrapbook Sketch challenge #30, and I created them for my monthly scrapbook club. On club night, we made these pages and the "Summer" pages shown in this post. Our friendly and enthusiastic group of scrapbook stampers is looking for 2 new members! Contact me (I'm friendly!) for more information.

  • Stampin' Up!'s high-quality metal styled vanilla Hodgepodge Hardware contains etched designs on brads and accents that coordinates with several punches. Helpful Hint: The frame I used here coordinates with the 1" square punch, and the frame I used in this post coordinates with the Designer label punch

  • Making perfect circles has never been simpler! The circle scissor plus (112530) cuts circles with ease. Helpful Hint: Works best with the glass mat (112531)

  • Clear buttons (105447) are easy to dress up by attaching to cut-out shapes, ribbon, rub-ons, and more! Helpful Hint: I used the scallop square punch (112081) and 1" circle punch (109046) to create cut-outs to coordinate with my clear button.
  • The Photo Corners punch (109042) and dimensionals (104430) make it quick and easy to add a little extra umph! to your photo frames

Friends Cottage Wall Scrapbook Pages

Share

Aren't those colors just gorgeous together?? The NEW Cottage Wall Designer Series Paper (DSP) makes it easy to design scrapbook pages, cards, and other crafty projects because the colors make it so darn hard to "un-cute" anything!! I love it! Want to see other Cottage Wall inspired projects? CLICK HERE! Helpful Hint: I've found although Orchid Opulence is listed in the Idea Book as one of the DSP colors, I prefer to use Pale Plum, instead. Orchid Opulence seems to compete too much with Rich Razzleberry.

After you have decided on a general layout (this layout was inspired by this sketch challenge) and color scheme, scrapbook pages are all about the embellishments and "finishing touches". Here's a look at a few of the fine finishes I used for these pages:

  • The Tag punch and 1/16" circle punch work together to create an adorable "friends" greeting. You could also title these pages with "Sisters", "Cousins", or your daughter/niece/granddaughter/etc's name.

  • If you have a Tag-job too big for the regular Tag or Large Tag punches, the Tag Corner punch will come to the rescue! Use it on the corners of any rectangle to create any size of tag your heart desires.
  • Use the Double Rectangle punch to make side-by-side slots, perfect for tucking in ribbon for a fancy-but-so-easy way to dress up your projects (shown above). This is a really cute treatment of ribbon bows on cards, too!

  • A slim strip of paper adhered to my tags helps to keep the pages feeling visually unified because it pulls in just a bit of the purple to the top of this page. And, of course, a little hardware, like this pewter brad from the Vintage Brads set, goes a long way!
  • Adding photo corners using the Photo Corners punch is almost magic! (Sometimes it makes me feel like I'm cheating because it's so cheap, easy, and yet CUTE!) Photo corners help to pull in design and color from other parts of the page (notice how it pulls in the Razzleberry from the photo frames and designer paper), plus it really dresses up the white photo frames. It is a very inexpensive embellishment!
